The Need for EtherAlert

Reports of drivers being drugged by narcotic or “sleeping” gases are on the increase. These ether-based gases are sprayed into the cab and “knock out” a sleeping driver like being sedated for a medical operation. Theft of loads or the driver’s possessions (eg passport, credit cards) can then be carried out without the driver knowing. After waking from such an attack, there is the added danger of driving whilst still under the influence of a narcotic drug.

Effective Protection

The EA2000 has been designed to protect against these attacks. The sensors mounted in the cab detects ether-based gases at very low levels before they can take effect. This triggers an ear-piercing siren to deter intruders, wake the driver and warn others close by. An optional high-visibility lamp can also be connected to flash when the alarm goes off.

A separate Panic Switch is also supplied with the unit. This can be used to manually sound the siren and send any prowlers running.

Neat and Unobtrusive

The sensors are small, neat and discreet. The main electronic control box is powered from the 12V supply of the truck and can be installed anywhere convenient (24V to 12V converters can be supplied if necessary). The extremely loud alarm siren is housed separately giving further flexibility to the installation.

Simple to Use

For security, a key switch on the control unit is used to activate the unit. Lamps on the control unit indicate system power, sensor health and alarm conditions. A push button is provided to test the system. The EA2000 is factory calibrated and requires no replaceable parts or user adjustment.
