EtherAlert Protects Truck Drivers
EtherAlert Gas Alarm
Reports of robberies in which drivers are anaesthetised by ‘sleeping-gas’ are on the increase. This is particularly the case on mainland Europe. Theft of cargo, passports, drivers’ possessions and even vehicles are then carried out without the knowledge of the driver. Incidents have been reported recently by the Road Haulage Association, European police forces and Eurowatch amongst others.
Alarmingly, the gas used is readily available across Europe and has been used in the past as a medical anaesthetic. The attacks occur whilst drivers are asleep on route. The gas is sprayed into the truck cab and puts the sleeping driver into an extremely deep slumber. The robbery is then carried out without any resistance and the driver wakes several hours later with no knowledge of the incident.
A product designed to protect from such attacks is the EtherAlert Gas Attack Alarm from Nereus Alarms Ltd. It is a fast acting alarm that detects very low levels of the gas and sounds a piercing siren to wake the driver and deter intruders. The unit is easy to fit to a cab and is simple to operate.
The EtherAlert is available directly from Nereus Alarms Ltd of the UK (Tel: +44 (0)1202 731886) and costs £125. Further details can be found on their website www.nereusalarms.co.uk
