Safe Control of Gas Supply
The Gas Valve Control Unit is used to safely control the gas supply on board a boat. The electronic control unit connects to a gas solenoid valve and a remote switch is used to open and close the valve as required. A lamp incorporated into the switch indicates when the valve is open. In this way, the gas valve need only be open when gas is required.
Power Failure
A power failure will cause the solenoid valve to close automatically. When the power is restored, the valve will remain closed until the user manually resets the system by turning the switch to the “off” position and then back to the “on” position. This system (unlike a simple switch) prevents the dangerous situation of gas being supplied to an open (but unlit) burner.
Gas Detector Alarm
The Gas Valve Control Unit has an input for connection to a gas detector (eg WG1000, WG2000). When a leak of gas is detected and an alarm is given, the system automatically shuts off the gas. When the gas detector comes out of alarm, the gas valve remains closed until the system is reset by the user (moving switch to the “off” position and then back to the “on” position). Again, this prevents gas being supplied to a burner that was previously being used which will be open and unlit.
